Safeguarding
Working with families and young people under the age of 18 means safeguarding considerations are paramount. I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and undertake regular child protection and safeguarding training with regular supervision. In the case of sessions undertaken with individual young people (aged 13 and over) a parent must be present nearby whilst the consultation takes place, however I ask families to ensure that the call takes place where confidentiality is possible. I encourage openness within the family as much as possible, however should a young person reveal information that they ask me to keep confidential I will do so unless I deem it necessary to protect the child or young person, or someone else, from risk of death or serious harm. Medical Indemnity
As a practising clinician, I hold professional indemnity. I am GMC registered and I am appraised annually in my medical practice. I adhere to the GMC's ethical guidance for doctors working with children from 0-18 years. This includes assessing whether a child has the capacity to consent to a consultation alone (this is assumed for age 16 and over but will need to be assessed with parents present for children aged 13-15). In this capacity as a coach, I adhere to the International Coaching Federation’s Code of Ethics and receive regular supervision.
Privacy, Confidentiality & Security
I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office and adhere to GDPR regulations pertaining to collecting, processing, and storing personal information. All information received is treated as strictly confidential with written and verbal responses informing any produced reports. All data is held on an encrypted drive and will only be kept ensuring I can offer the best service. Your data will not be passed to any third parties. No sessions will be recorded, and notes made outside of the reports will be disposed of securely. Topics may be anonymously shared with other medical or coaching professionals for training purposes.
